Known as Nguyen Van Anh (Vietnam, 1914-2000), he graduated from the painting and modelling section of the École des Beaux-Arts in Hanoi in 1935. His teachers included Victor Tardieu (France, 1870-1937), Joseph Inguimberty (France, 1896-1971), Le Pho (Vietnam, 1907-2001) and Georges Khanh (Vietnam, 1906-Unknown). In 1948, he left his country to join the studio of Jean Dupas at the National Superior School of Fine Arts in Paris. In 1949, he obtained the Hallmark Art Award and later a UNESCO scholarship to study in Belgium. In 1961-1966, he became a drawing teacher at the Saigon Architecture University, and then in 1967-1968, he acted as director of the National Superior School of Decorative Arts in Gia-Dinh.
