Born in North Vietnam, Le Pho studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Hanoi in 1925, furthering his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris in 1931. He returned to Vietnam from 1932 to 1937, after which he chose to settle in France. Le Pho's works virtually illustrate the beauty of flowers and portraits of women and children. He exhibited in Paris, throughout France, New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Buenos Aires, and has participated in the Salon d'Automne.
