Under Eric’s leadership, Christie’s has achieved close to 100 world auction records for Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Southeast Asian artists including that for Zao Wou-ki’s 29.1.64, which realised HKD203m/USD26m in 2017, a world record then for an oil painting by any Asian artist and Chu Teh-Chun’s Vertige Neigeux (Snowy Vertigo), which made a world record for the artist at HKD91.8m/ USD11.8m in 2016. Eric also launched The Contemporaries – a sale meticulously curated in 2017 which initiated the convergence of top Asian and Western masters in one auction event.
