En 1931, il obtient une bourse pour se rendre en France où cette sculpture "Femme annamite" est présentée à l’Exposition Coloniale. Il fait alors partie d’une génération de jeunes artistes indochinois émergents, aux côtés de Mai-Thu et Lê Phô.
