Christie’s 20th Century Art, Hong Kong, 26 May 2022

This season, Christie’s Hong Kong is proud to present the 20th Century Art Day sale on 27 May, bringing together an outstanding selection of masterpieces by leading modern artists from East and West. Works by Western artists such as David Hockney, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Bernard Buffet will converse with those of Asian masters, from Sanyu, Zao Wou-Ki, Chu Teh-Chun, Chen Yifei to Shiy De Jinn. In addition, this sale will also offer an exciting line up of works by modern Japanese masters Jiro Takamatsu, Kazuo Shiraga, Jiro Yoshihara and Takeo Yamaguchi.

Prominent artists from South East Asia will also be represented in the auction, including an exceptional still life by Georgette Chen, alongside pioneering first and second-generation Singaporean artists such as Liu Kang, Cheong Soo Pieng, Chen Wen Hsi, Lim Tze Peng, Chen Cheng Mei etc. Filipino artists Lee Aguinaldo, Fernando Amorsolo, as well as celebrated Vietnamese painters such as Le Pho, Mai Trung Thu, Vu Cao Dam and To Ngoc Van are names not to be missed. Together, they create powerful new dialogues and connections between them, and this sale offers something for every collector.
