This season, Christie’s 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale presents seminal works by leading masters of the modern era and contemporary luminaries, as well as emerging artists from around the world.

Highlights to be proud include Vietnamese paintings, works on paper and sculptures by prominent artists from South East Asia. Remarkable paintings on silk, canvas and lacquer by Vietnamese masters, including the silk L’élégante Interrogation (The Elegant Questioning) and Femme au châle rouge (Lady with a Red Shawl) by Mai Trung Thu, the silk Bouquet de lys (Bouquet of Lilies) and La femme aux rosiers (Lady with Roses) by Le Pho, the terracotta sculpture Tête de femme (Head of a Woman) and the oil Divinité by Vu Cao Dam, the lacquers by Nguyen Gia Tri and Alix Aymé will also be presented alongside an exciting lineup of works by the leading modern artists that traverse time and borders from Western conversed with those of Asian masters such as Zao Wou-Ki, Chu Teh-Chun, Sanyu, Leonard-Tsuguharu Foujita, and Indonesian artists.
