Christie's Paris: Avant-Garde(s) including Thinking Italian
Paris, once again, the beating heart of the international market of modern, post-war and contemporary art.
On this occasion, Christie’s presenting its second edition of the Avant-Garde(s) including Thinking Italian sale, an exceptional auction that pays tribute to the great names of artists from the 20th and 21st centuries. Spearheaded by the masterpiece of Joan Miró from La Colombe d’Or, Peinture (Femmes, lune, étoiles), painted in 1949, the sale will also feature major works by artists the likes of Yves Klein, Marcel Duchamp, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Zao Wou-Ki, or François-Xavier Lalanne. It will shed light on rare and prestigious provenances, such as a painting by Yves Tanguy coming from the collection of a member of the Matisse family and a large canvas by Dorothea Tanning coming from Alain Jouffroy’s collection. The Italian section of the sale will showcase masterpieces of 20th century Italian art, such as artworks by Domenico Gnoli coming from the collection of Jan Krugier, Lucio Fontana coming from an important private Italian collection and Tancredi Parmeggiani coming from the artist’s heirs collection, among others.
