Curriculum vitae of Nguyen Gia Trí written by the artist himself, Hanoi, 1943

Nguyen Gia Tri,
Born in Hanoi in 1911.
Entered the School of Fine Arts in 1928, graduated in 1937.
He began by collaborating with the magazines Ngay Nay, Tins Hoa (1935-1937).  Out of competition for the 1st Salon Sadeai opened in 1935.
The first lacquer created just after leaving the School in 1937-1939 is in Mrs. Drouin’s collection.
An official order by the gg.  Brévié in 1938 with a 7m2,500  panel for the Palace of Hanoi and a 14m2 screen for the one in Dalat, opens a series of works with a total surface area of 76m2 between 1938-1939 and ninety square meters of lacquers between 1939-1940.
The works exhibited during the Salon Unique 1943 are part of the works started since April 1940.

A commencé en collaborant aux revues Ngay Nay, Tinh Hoa (1935-1937). Hors concours au 1er salon ouvert par la Sadeai en 1935.

La première laque faite à la sortie de l'Ecole en 1937-1938 se trouve dans la collection de Madame Drouin.
Une commande officielle par le gg. Brévié en 1938 avee un pameau de 7m²500 pour le Palais de Hanoi et un paravent de 14m2 pour celui de Dalat, ouvre une série de travaux totalisant dans l'intervalle 1938-1939 une surface de 76 mètre carrés, et dans l'intervalle 1939-1940 quatre vingt dix mètres carrés de laque.
Les œuvres exposées an Salon Unique 1943 font partie des travaux commencés depuis avril 1940.
