The very first exhibition 'Le Gala du Salon de 1935', L'Avenir du Tonkin, 25 March 1935 held by SADEAI: Société Annamite d'Encouragement à l'Art et à l'Industrie (The Annamite Society for the encouragement of art and industry) initiated by Victor Tardieu in May 1934. It was granted legal capacity by a decision of the Governor General dated August 6, 1935. Its head office was located at the School of Fine Arts, whose director was the President.
